Truck won't start and has been sitting for 2 years. It ran great when it was parked. Fuel pump was completely ruined from old fuel. I put in another unknown fuel pump that works and hooked it up to a fuel cell with clean fuel and pulled the return line loose.

I ran the fuel pump until the new fuel pushed out the old brown fuel and fresh fuel ran through. Now it doesn't run.

It will stumble, spit, and sputter on ether, but won't run for more than 1/2 second on the ether.

Here is the question. Is the fuel pump providing enough pressure or are the injectors clogged or is there another problem?

My reasoning on the fuel pressure is if the regulator is sending fuel down the return line, then it must be making enough pressure to run the injectors. Is this correct?

Are the injectors just clogged since the fuel pump was clogged? Is there a good place to have them rebuilt/cleaned?

Thanks in advance!!!

Tried changing the fuel filter? If the pump was in as bad of shape as you describe, the filter could be in the same shape. You could also pick up a fuel pressure gauge and that will tell you the truth about the pressure at the fuel rail. Not familiar with any source to have them rebuilt.

A good starting place on the fuel side of things is to check fuel pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel pressure regulator. My 94 got 35 psi more or less constant, that is before start up and while it ran. If you get that after you prime the system for about 6 seconds, and while you are cranking it over to start, you are getting enough pressure to the regulator.
Before pulling injectors to rebuild them, you have to first make sure you have spark to each plug while you are turning the engine over. Sounds like it given it will fire on ether, but I'd try at least 4 plugs and watch for good spark there.
Injectors can be cleaned and rebuilt at home. I did it recently on our 94. There is an outfit online that sells the parts needed to rebuild the injector after you clean it. In fact the site describes how to clean them in solvent. But there are even better youtube videos on how to clean fuel injectors. The parts are sold by Fordfuelinjection.com. Check out Utube for "fuel injection service kit installation".
But, I suspect your gunk got caught by the fuel filter before it got to the regulator and injectors, so start with a new one.
