I wanna use a bII gas tank between the frame rails under the bed in the back for space issues on my swap. Question is, neglecting fuel level readings, will a 4.0 fuel pump work on that tank? I would just skip it and wire in a bII pump, but for the price and chance it might not work for w/e reasoning, i'm giving this a shot. As of yet I do not have the bII tank, I still have the stock ranger coffin with sending unit/pump, but only removed. Thanks fellas

If you use the sending unit from an '89-90 Bronco2
both thepump and sender unit will work PERFECTLY
with your 1994 instruments.

a bronco2 tan will fit almost effortlessly in a Ranger with a 7foot bed.

IF you have a shortbed on either a Standard or supercab a bronco2 tank cannot be MADE to work and retain your Left Rear shock absorber.

But there is another tank that can be adapted... the tank from a 1991-1994 F350/450. I am running one of these tanks in the back of my supercab
IN ADDIION TO, not "instead of" the midship tank.
I had to fabricate the crossmembers to mount it,
but fabbing with square tubing isn't rocket surgery.

alan,
I appreciate the response, however. Since this is a build-up, my rear frame shock mounts are gone. I cut them off due to rust and having no use for them. So, with that being said, is there any other problem to using this tank considering the fact I do indeed have an extended cab 6 footer?

Allan - does that tank fit on a regular cab/short bed?

Oh Yeah!!!

I though it was pretty clear I had one installed...
wanna come by and look at it?

It's PLASTIC so it'll never rust...

But like I've said before if I EVER see a plastic tank rust I'll be the
guy heard screaming "Andromeda Strain" as I run away....

how far are u from pittsburgh?
I was just concerned about the wire connection being the same. thats all.

Thanks. You said you had one installed on your supercab, so I just wanted to be certain about a regular cab/shortbed. If you were closer I'd definitely be coming by to look at it (and bringing a list of other parts I want to look for, like a DPFE sensor).

The difference in a standard cab shortbox is all forward of the front bed bolts

Behind that point it shares the same frame issues with the supercab, so yeah one could be put into a shortbox.

the trick is finding one that doesn't have a hole punched into it.

How big is the F350/450 tank?

I don'r know the exact dim's offhand, but it's slightly narrower than the bronco2 tank
significantly shorter front to back but deeper top to botom.

However it doesn't sit "proud" of the top of the frame rails as
bad as the bronco2 tank does and it's fuel filler pipe is in a much
more convenient location. it lines up almost perfectly with where
you are essentially forced to fit the gas door.

I basically had to fabricate crossmembers to hang it from,
but that was made considerably easier by the fact that
the tank straps (which go over the top of the frame) strap
the tank to the factory skid plate/shield for it.

BTW, dualie wheeled F-350's use the same tank.

So you have it mounted in place of the factory spare?

I need something to just throw in the bed. I wish i could find a reserve tank from a dual tank ranger. Anyone got one for sale??

Yes.

BTW, in case you were asking about "size" and wanted to know
capacities the last time I filled it at a commercial pump it was
dead dry and it took 21.53gallons.

the Ranger AUX, if you not only had a tank, but also had the
proper tank unit to go in it (this is MUCH harder to get than the tank)
that would only be 13gallons

The Bronco2 tank is 23gallon tank.

the biggest problem with the bronco2 tank aside from
it's dimensions is the location of the filler pipe
which is too far forward and aimed right at the "mid" bed mount,
with no real room to route around it.
and the "penthouse" (the part of the tank that sticks up above
the frame) and requires relocating one of the "box" members
that supports the bed deck.

Thanks for all the info. Adding that to my list of eventual projects.
