I was pulling a trailer the other day, and about half way to my destination my truck stopped going into 4th gear. I unplugged the battery to reset the codes and it still wont shift. It doesnt even seam like its even attempting a shift at all. I checked the trany fluid and it looks fine (its syn fluid) and I have an external cooler too. Do yall know what would cause this.

Umm, a year and some clarification that you're actually talking about an automatic transmission would be very helpful.

Do you even have a 4th gear? Rangers came with automatic 3-speeds, 4-speeds and 5-speeds and manual 4 and 5 speeds.

sorry about that, its is a 95 automatic with a 4.0 and 4wd. I noticed it b/c when going 65 mph I was running over 2500 rpms, normally when im going around 75 or 80 am i at 2500 rpms.

Well, you were towing a trailer at the time. Is it still showing the same symptoms unloaded?

yes i was pulling the trailer. Everything was going fine, then we pulled off the highway to grab some food. We when were getting back on was when it wouldnt go to fourth (it doesnt even try to shift)
