4.0 swap

hey people, i have a problem , i have a 93 ranger 4.0 . my motor blow up and i want to use a 4.0 from and explorer/mountainer/ranger 2002. (2000-2005)
what kind of modification i need to do ?
i don`t want to change the transmision and transfer

4wd or 2wd?


4wd can prove a lil more difficult. the chassis are different. the 4.0 cammers are about the same size as a 302. but the bottom ends have different issues.


do you already have a cost effective line on a donor?

the ecm and a lot else is different,you'd wind up needing to take a lot of stuff from the 2002 donor truck

Your best bet is to swap in a 4.0 from 91-94. The 93 will be the easiest because of the year of your truck but if you found any motor from a 91-94 donor vehicle you will go to a lot less work than trying to swap in a motor from a 2002-2005.
