I just sold my regular 1994 Ranger 4x4 with a 4.0 and moved up to Alaska. I can't find much on the STX but I'm looking at a similar one to my old one up here. Is there any difference with the STX package than the regular one? They are both identical in everything. Just wondering about suspension or the motor. Thanks!

As far as I know only the '87 '88 STX Highrider has a suspension package. I took apart a '87 highrider suspension and put it on my '91 STX. Use the search button on this site, there's a bunch of posts.

Tried it with no luck. I find differences prior to 1989 and then after 1998. Nothing from 1993-1997.....

87, '88 & '89

The STX "highrider" was a midyear introduction for 1987.

the highrider isn't what it's name implies.

what it IS is actually a factlry "Leveling kit" that is accomplished like a lift.

Frankly I think a leveled pickup truck looks like the ass it's going to be dragging if you actually haul anything in it.

After 89, the STX was basically just a graphics/decal package. They eventually stopped making the STX in the mid to late 90s. In 2005 Ford brought the STX back as a cruiser with no off-road capability.

Then you'd REALLY 'like' my '91. I put on the stx 'lift' kit and removed the stock 3.5" blocks from the rear springs....
But it's for racing- short course.

Thanks guys. But I'm pissed... Ha ha, the guy sold it for $200 more than he was asking. I told him I'd give him $2,300 of $2,500 and he got $2,700. : \

A learned trick: I will stop keeping my pockets closed tight and buy the next one immediately.

Since I missed the Ranger deal, I picked up a 1993 Exploder with the 4.0L and dual stick 4x4. The rig is a two door and it was hit behind the drivers door. I'm new to rust and the crease at the bottom has rusted through. Any tricks or product that will discontinue the disease? If needed, I can take a picture tonight and post it when I get home.

There are products for just what you want. I've used Rust-off [and I've heard that dilute muriatic acid will accomplish the same thing:icon_confused:]. The Rust-off bonds to the rust and forms a black coating that can be painted over with out rust reforming. I tried it 6 months ago and so far so good.

Gee, thanks!
