4.0 SOHC head gaskets/timing chains

I could run a piece of vacuum hose between both ends but I don't care if my truck stays on defrost until I replace it. It won't hurt anything will it?

You really don't wanna run with a vacuum leak. And the other stuff on that circuit may cause a check engine light and etc.

If it's just a few miles... drive it. If it's 40 there and 40 minutes back I might not.

If you Can isolate the hvac and leave everything else functional you're good.

I blocked both ends of it so there isn't a vacuum leak anymore. It was only the line that goes between the intake manifold and the fender ball which I assume is for the heater. Both the lines from the IM to the PCV and EGR were good still. So basically no vacuum leak, that one line is just not connected anymore. Is that what you meant by isolate it?

I got the part number off my label and the whole shebang costs $46. Just curious if I need to take the time to rig it together until then or just go without the heater switch?

I'd probably just use a piece of rubber vacuum hose and replace the section that's broken with that... just my way of fixing it though.

I already ordered it from Ford Parts Giant. I probably should have just saved a few bucks and put a piece of hose on it but I can't help myself lol. I figure, get a fresh set of lines and they'll last until I break them taking the engine out again in hopefully (at least) another 100k miles.
