4.0 sohc fan removal?

So is there a special tool to remove the fan on the SOHC 4.0? Or is it just a large wrench? Needing to take the fan off so I need to know what to get, I don't have a wrench that large or a special tool so I need to know what I'm buying, thanks folks!

there is a special tool you can rent or a narrower than normal adjustable wrench

I just bought the tool for the ohv 4.0 it can hold the hub and has a thin wrench to turn the nut.I've also taken two of the hub bolts out to get a regular wrench on it then held the pulley with strap wrench.

Air chisel on the corner of the nut works nice.

Other than that, you need to tool set that has the special wrench and the hub holding tool. Or the air chisel attachments for a fan clutch. I bought one 6 months ago and haven't even opening the box yet.

I "rented" it (for free) from the Autozone tools rental program. Advanced-Auto has the same program.

The actual wrench sizes were a 36mm and 72mm:

For what it's worth, I rednecked it up. Wrapped a strap around the pulley, hooked to the frame and just used a wrench on the nut. Worked like a charm.

If theres an oreillys or an autozone nearby you can just rent the fan tool for free (give them money and they refund u when u return the tool)
