4.0 SOHC Engine Compatibility Questions

Howdy,

I've got a 2002 XLT 4.0 Auto, unfortunately it has a blown engine. I just want to do a direct swap 4.0 SOHC for 4.0 SOHC. My question is will 2001-2008 4.0 SOHC engines be a direct swap or did the engine change between certain years?

The long blocks are all basically the same (some have internal balance shafts, etc) - the differences were in the external parts, intakes, exhaust manifolds, sensors, etc. You should have no problems replacing your long block with one from another year as long as you use your intake, sensors, accessories, etc.
