4.0 OHV oil leak.

That is where my 4.0 leaks.:(:(

It's a real treat to fix. It's just three O rings but the adapter is pretty much blocked by the exhaust, and one of the O rings is very hard to find. If you decide to try it, the Ford part # for the hard to find one is E9TZ-6749-A... the other two are made by Mahle and are pretty easy to come by.

I think he means something like this: Irwin bolt extractor
Thanks

Thanks for the number.

Hey I am in the middle of fixing the leak at those orings. The manifold bolts came out easy. Are they supposed to be studs or bolts? I just took out the passenger side bolts. I think that will give me enough room. :):)

as far as I know they are all bolts. some may have a threaded stud on the end of a bolt for mounting of accessory brackets.

Ok I think I am just going to do the passenger side as the drivers side bolts feel like they will break.

I attempted to buy the two inner orings from the ford dealer, they claimed they only came with the entire adapter assembly. Was hoping to have some luck sourcing them separately. Easier said than done maybe :(

Yeah I went on ebay and bought one. Hope it is the right one. The number matches so it should be. So now I have parts for this repair coming form three different places.:p:rolleyes:

Is this one green in color normally? My local auto parts store can only find the smallest oring of the three.
Yep. I think you can look up an oil filter adapter gasket for a SOHC truck and they will be the same, or at least that was where my research stopped. Allegedly the o-ring kit fits both 4.0 variants but I can't personally confirm that.

Ok thanks for the information. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Yeah I got everything back together and it does not leak. Thanks for all the help.:););)
Nice! What o-rings did you end up using for the two small inner rings?

I used the E9TZ-6749-A and the E9TZ-6749-A. It appears to be working well. It it is a little moist at the base, but I think it is the oil I used to lube the biggest oring when I installed it. I did have to find the one oring on ebay( my local auto parts store could not find it). But the job went well after all the parts came. I did not break any exhaust bolts and I only took off the passenger side exhaust.:):)

Im a little late to this post, but did the fix work? No leaks yet? ANd when you say you dropped the passenger side exhaust only, did you drop the y pipe and then take the passenger side manifold off?
