Finally getting things buttoned up, but waiting on a gasket.

Couple questions - Is there any thing (bracket or ??) below where the dipstick attaches to the block? I've got about an inch of space between the bracket the holds the dipstick to the block and the block and it appears there was something else between the block and the dipstick? Pictures would be good...

Also, does this spring clip go along with the U shaped metal piece to hold the electronic plug-in to the cam shaft sensor?

I kind of remember pulling it off of something, but can't recall what? (see attachment).

Thanks for the help.

The U spring thingy fits in the slots of a 2 wire connector. On the BMWs its used on fuel injector plugs.:D

Thanks, but still throwing a blank on what connector it came off of in this situation?

The same clips are also used on the rocker arm shaft, but I know this one didn't come from there.

The only connector I can think of on a 4.0 OHV that would have one of those is the crank sensor.

I know for certain the U shaped clip goes to the crank sensor, can't recall if the other piece goes there or not?

I believe that spring clip goes on the end of a rocker arm shaft. It goes between the roll pin and the last rocker.

Never mind, I just read your post and see you know that, too.

On my older, 1994, 4.0l the dipstick tube goes all the way into the block about 1" - 2" and has an eye at the other end that bolts to top of exhaust manifold

Part number for that tube for 1997-2000 4.0l OHV should be F77Z-6754-FC
