Im trying to help my friend smog his truck, but it keeps popping the MIL.

Maf sensor intermit.
Maf sensor malf.
Tcc performance/stuck

I have replaced the maf and the lockup solenoid, they still popped the mil.
all grounds are great, wire connectors are clean, no wierd readings in data stream mode, but i noticed it has a marine wing nut style batt. termnal on the pos., and no batt. hold down block. I looked on the hood but there is no shorch marks from arcing. But is could have arced.

If it did arc could the computer be fried, but only affecting the trans and the maf???

any insight would be great....
thanks

while watching in live data mode. wiggle, bend, twist, push, and pull the wiring harness and plug to the MAF and see if it drops out.

yeah but i don't like wiggle tests. i like to watch the data in a graphing form so i can spot any fluctuations.

I did the data stream, and played w/ the wires smacking the maf, and the hole wire harness. no change. it throws the fault at start up.

as for the tcc lockup, I think i fugured it out. some one put 3.08 gears and 33" tires on the truck, stock was 3.73. and 30"s. and yes the truck still moved.

it pops the MIL for both the MAF and the TCC? or just the MAF?

have you checked the MAF sensor ground?

and you said you checked the live data, is the MAF putting out anything at all? what is the voltage at idle

I was not aware there was a seprate ground for the maf. where is it located?

as for the voltage I dont remeber. But as im bumping the rpms up, the g/s also goes up. its reading but its intermitant mil trigger.

yes it has its own ground circuit. pay attention to the voltage of the MAF instead of the gm/sec.

it should be .5-1.00volt at idle, and 4volts-5volts at WOT.

what is the exact number of the code? it makes it easier to locate the problem if you look at the setting conditions of the code.

Ok here are the codes. p0102, p1100, p1744.

I looked for the sensor volts and it was 0.0 idle and wot, also g/s was also 0.0%

I waited for 20 min, thinking the sensor wasent online yet, but still nothing.
I know p1744 is the converter clutches stuck.

also it said maf FMEM flag on

yeah the MAF is not putting anything out at all.

check the 5volt reference for the MAF, and the signal output wire voltage

if your reference is ok and the signal wire shows the appropriate voltage. then there is an open in the wiring between the MAF and ECM.. OR the ecm is bad. you'll have to unplug the neg batt. cable and unplug the ECM harness. then use an ohmmeter to test the wires between the 2

what wire colors or pin #?

according to my chilton book... should be pins 88-light blue/red and 36- tan/light blue... at the PCM

its a crappy diagram so i don't know which is the reference wire and which is the signal wire.

you should test at the MAF sensor first to see if you are getting the 5V reference
