I took apart my 1994 ford ranger's 4.0 upper and lower intake to replace the manifold gaskets and notice that theres some caked on oil/crud/carbon build up, possibly from the faulty lower manifold gasket. i'm wanting to clean it up but am curious to know: 1)should i use a cleaner. brakleen, simple green, etc 2) will it be a big problem if the cleaner and debris gets into the engine. any help would be greatly appreciated and i will keep it posted on how this all goes. thanks.

i would use brakleen and KEEP IT ALL OUT OF THE REST OF THE MOTOR put rags in every hole
