Has anybody run the fm145 behind the 4.0? If you have how well has it held up?

4.0+FM145=Boom.

The FMs break behind the 2.9. The 4.0 torque numbers (the number you use to break stuff) blows the 2.9's peak out of the water around 1300 RPM. You WILL crack gears and shred bearings. It's just a question of how fast it will happen.

MMkay. I think ill start my search for an auto.. Could pm me details on how you repinned for the first gen 4.0 swap?

if the 145 is built to the same level the FM146 is I would say it could last a while. I had a FM146 behind my 4.0 for over a year(Took that long to locate a good M5OD) and I was NOT easy on my FM146, Constant clutch drops, 4-5k RPM pulls, off-roading, 4 low pedal mashing, everything that you should not do. I still have my FM146, it starting to leak from front seal but other then that...I think i could still get another few weeks or months out of i before any major signs show up, maybe this one was build tough. (Also, tranny had 200+ when i put it behind my 4.0)

definitely want to be easy on it.
