4.0 Engine noise

The noise you're hearing is very common with the 4.0, especially after an oil change. The sound of marbles rattling inside is due to Ford's design of this engine, especialy when several thousand miles are on it. I've heard it's due to the push rods/lifters. Just keep driving it and know that everyone else has the same sound.

The hydraulic lifters are known to wear out on the 4.0. They get plugged up with contaminants and stop working. Mine does it as well, you'll have to remove the heads to replace them.

Sent from road while ignoring traffic

i had the same problem with mine, it's your valvetrain. go buy some lucas oil stabilizer and substitue it for 1 quart of oil in your next oil change. stuff is awesome.
