After converting my 1984 ford ranger 2.8l to a 4.0L v6, I need a spot to store my ecm but the way the 4.0 wiring is routed, the ecm needs to be on the drivers side while with the old wiring harness, it was mounted in the passenger side kick panel. Any suggestions

Where is it now?
You could look for an electrical wiring box like mounted on outside of houses. Or Tupperware. Then mount it in engine bay.

Let us know what you come up with, I have a 92 shell that has a 96 2.3 under the hood. 92 is on the pass side footwell. 96 is in the center of the firewall under the windshield.

You could use an Explorer harness true to the 4.0's era; they maintained the PCM in the passenger kick panel.

I prefer this approach, which actually started in 1995. It would be easy enough to use the rubberized mounting plate from the '95+ vehicle, which would seal things off pretty well from the engine bay. The question is whether you can make the back side, where most of the PCM case sits, protected enough from the elements.

Any weatherproof box can be made to work as long as you can find a way to mount it. Old toolbox might be a nice cheap place to start.
