4.0 coming soon. fuel tank ??

I've searched quite a bit, I know what I need to do to complete the swap from my 85 2.8 to a 91 4.0. I should be picking up the donor explorer soon.

my question is about the fuel tanks, I know I need a high pressure pump for efi like those found on 2.9s. I can't find any info about explorer fuel tanks. Is there any chance the ex tank will fit in place instead of my factory b2 one? and if not, would the pump work in the b2 tank?

Is the early explorer tank offset or between the frame rails?

The Explorer used a midship tank just like the rest of them. But, you are in luck. The 85 tank should be able to support a low-pressure electric pump. The Ranger tank changed in 85 to the wider opening used in the fuel injected trucks. I would assume the same holds true for the BII.
