i just wonderd if anyone put a 4.0 clutch into a manual 2.9 and wanted there feed back. was it easy? how much better did it hold? ect.

Having done the swap several times, i can say it is definately worth it. Was it easy? No different than installing the stock 2.9 clutch.

Check out the tech library for more info, and a list of parts. And do a search in this forum....there's lots of feedback.

it a super easy.

Parts needed:
- 4.0 manual flywheel
- 4.0 manual starter
- 4.0 clutch
- 4.0 pressure plate
- 4.0 slave cylinder

You will also have to rewire the starter solenoid since the 4.0 started has the solenoid on the started and the 2.9's don't. You will have to run a 4AWG constant hot wire to the 4.0 starter and run a 16AWG wire from the 2.9 started wire side of the stock solenoid to the small terminal on the 4.0 starter.

If you want PM me your email and I will send you a wiring diagram for wiring the 4.0 starter.

on 2.9 to 4.0 clutch swap is there a difference in the throw out bearing?????/ will the 2.9 unit work
