4.0 build vs 5.0 swap

I'm up in the air weather or not to build my current 4.0, or swap with the 5.0. It seems like 4 liter performance parts are pricey. I'm not wanting a track truck, just a nice almost street rod truck. Are there any parts interchangeable between the 2? Has anyone had a 4.0 ranger and a 5.0 ranger? One of life's toughest decisions.

There is no comparison. I had a 94 4.0 that I supercharged. It was neat, but a stock 5.0 would blow it's doors off. If I build another Ranger, it will have a 5.0.

i love the 4.0....but if its not doing it for you ....



its a piss waste to dink with it.



if you want to be different, swap in a current 150 or stang 3.7 v6 powertrain....


but any v8 is just money ahead. the 302 is cake to do.


personally, i would do the newest low mile 5.3 or 6.0/6.2 gm powertrain i could afford. best bang for buck.


unless you want a diesel.....hard to say what to use there.
