I have a 1992 Ranger that was 4.0 from factory and now has a 4.0 from a 94 explorer with the explorer computer.

The truck is Bogging down under acceleration and stalls almost everytime I come to a stop.

It is throwing 3 codes.
Code 565- Canister Purge 1 (Solenoid Circuit Failure)
Code 557- Low speed pump relay (Primary Circuit Fault)
Code 542- Fuel Pump Open (Bad ground or always on)

I was wondering what does this all mean? It really doesn't seem like the engine is getting enough fuel.

Thanks in advance for the help

try seeing if the ranger ecu will run it. explorers may have had more emissions garbage under the hood. light trucks dont have to have some of that stuff that suvs have

It has had the explorer and ECU in it for about 6 months and the problem has only been happening the past couple days. It is also throwing a bunch of EGR codes but those have always been there and haven't been a problem. I only put up the new codes that I havent seen before.

92 ranger and 94 explorer have different pin outs. I am surpised it even runs at all.

I pulled out the pin out diagrams for both ecm's and there are about 20 different pin outs between the two ecms.

The canister purge is pin # 11 no the explorer ecm and pin #31 on the ranger for example.

Pin #31 on explorer ecm isn't used for anything and neither is pin #11 on the ranger.

huh! thats really weird... It has ran great for about 6 months... it is running pretty normal at the moment though...

Does it have the injector, engine, and underhood wiring harnesses from the Exploder?

You aren't running the Ex's injector harness and ECU with the 92 engine wiring are you? Or any other mix of the 2 trucks?

:icon_confused:but if it was a harness difference issue, why after 6 months...?

The Ex's injector harness should be 7 wires, your truck's harness would only have 3 wires.

And your trucks harness wouldn't be wired for EGR.

I'm running the ranger harness... the explorer harness has different plugs then the ranger one. It wasn't possible to use it unless i were to basically rewire the truck.

All the wiring is stock from the ranger, the engine and ECU are from the explorer.

I have been throwing EGR codes since I put the engine in but it was always running fine with the codes since there wasn't any of the EGR equipment on my truck...

I'd start simple like a fuel filter change if it just started all this could have trash in it making the fuel pump struggle and throwing codes. Just a suggestion
