i have a 1993 ford ranger extcab 4x4 i plan on putting a skyjacker 6'' class 2 lift will i have any problems with a 35 inch tire or will it rub i know i will need to change gears will 4.56s work good and will i start breaking axles

You will rub. My buddy had a '97 4x4 with 9" of lift and 35's and he still rubbed at times.

I have a 5.5" lift on my 91 Explorer with 35s, with mild fender trimming, and have very little rubbing at full flex.

I would go with 4.88s instead of 4.56s.

I keep seeing this... is this for real... Dana 35 / Ford 8.8 with 4.88 Gears... i thought they didn't make 4.88's for these front and rear ends... :icon_confused: i thought the best you could do is.. 4:56 or 5:13's???????????? i could totally be wrong though???????

Depending on how hard you wheel, myself i don't push my truck too hard, and i'm using 3:73's... it really sucks for rocks and slow uphill climbs... wait anything slow it sucks... i'm constantly in 4x4 LOW Range... not because i need the 4x4 but because i need the better gearing ratio... and it still sucks... but on the highway.. i get pretty good gas mileage lol!!!!!

I have a 94 x-cab

35's will rub... mine rub abit even after i put a 2" bl on... watch your offsets on your rims, I have 8" rims with 12.5 wide procomp tires and my tires rub the radius arms on the skyjacker kit at full lock!!! just a head up!!!

Also, grab a F-150 coil Spacer 1 to 1.5" (the 6" kit sags with a x-cab) that way you get the ture lift height from the kit!!! (you'll need it with 35's)

Hope this helps

Yes, Yukon makes a 4.88 gear for the Dana 35 in reverse rotation. Just about everybody makes a 4.88 gear for a Ford 8.8.

I also agree that 4.88's would be better for 35's, especially if you are going to wheel it.

I stand to be mistaken... huh i wonder why i always thought that!!!!

HP D35 4.88s have been available for at least a good 3-4 years now.

+1, if it's a 4.0L, go 4.88 if it will see a lot of highway use, 5.13 if it's primarily for trail use.

Axles should be fine, but some upgrades couldn't hurt (the u-joint & hub upgrades in particular). Check the Axle Upgrades post in the axles section for some info.
