35s without a suspension lift?

Damn I have a BL too, guess I cant wheel anymore because I only pose now...

I would stay away from blocks... The rear won't have near as many clearance issues as the front will. Granted, at full flex it will rub, but that's because it can actually flex more than two inches.

Still, I would be more concerned about the front end. 3" bl should be fine. I might put one on my truck if for some reason my sas gets delayed even more.

how hard is a solid axle swap on a 99. damn, i need to get a pic of my ranger for my avatar. the prob is i dont have internet service for my computer, im doing all of my posts with my samsung blackjack 2. its kinda crazy but im use to using my phone for stuff like this.

..........

and statements like this is why u and i butt heads from time to time.....i have built several rangers, most with body lifts, inorder to create clearance for a small block, 4spd etc, and i garuntee u my "POSER" trucks would go further off the beaten trail then yours will.

that being said, with the t-bar cranked some blocks in the back and a body lift u should fit the 35's but rubbage will be a issue

i guess my statment was very broad.

i can see a use for them like u mension, clearance for motor swaps. thats the best way to be able to get a chevy in a ranger like i want in my truck.

as for a the primary form of a lift, in my eyes, i think mostly poser use body lifts. thats just me tho

I think poser is the wrong term. A poser is someone who does exactly what someone else does because they want to look or be just like them. A body lift actually has a purpose. Ya know; the whole tire thing, engine swaps, affordability, ease of installation..... Am I a poser just because I can't afford a $1,600 lift for my rig?

thats the reason im thinkin bout a bodylift, i cant afford $1600 either. that price still pisses me off.

hmmm $160 dollar lift to clear some new tires and make it easier to work on stuff, or $1600 for a sus. lift.... which one seems the most logical...

In blueranger's case and in the 98 - up Ranger in general , a body lift makes a lot of sense due to the sucky SLA suspension. The traditional suspension lifts are less than ideal and don't do anything to improve travel or durability. Those suspensions like to stay stock and are durable as is.

Yes, logical for its application. A SAS would be the way to go eventually, however I don't have the facility or the cash for it. So that leaves people like my self with few options. One of them being the perfectly functional, affordable and simple B/L solution.

logical would be to save some money for about a year or however long it takes you and buy what you will want in the end. it just causes more of a hassel to put something on that you know you will want to remove later.

like i stated before, its my opinion. i did put a body lift on my old ranger and that son of a gun was top heavy as hell. i hated it from the moment i drove it with the body lift and it looked ugly as hell.

tire clearance... id rather get glass fenders for better tire clearance. pre runners have up to 39" tires and most sit lower or the same height as a stock ranger granted they have an extreme amount of fab work done. but most guys who dont want to spend the money just go up to 33s or 35s which will have no problems with a 3" rise and 3" wide fiberglass fender. you could even go with 6" and 6". you also spend 1 hour tops on fender and its easy to put the factory ones back on if you want.

from my experience in socal, body lift=poser. theres even tapered bodylift for the "prerunner" look.

keep the factory ride and go glass. dont crank or BL. well keep the cranking to a minimum.

Well put c-note. I see your logic on this subject. I guess what it boils down to, is different strokes for different folks. Saving money isn't one of my strong suits either, riding dirtbikes seems to empty the wallet nearly every Saturday.

why would it be logical to save money for a year to put a suspension lift on a IFS ranger that will give u NO advantages over the stock design, why would it be logical for someone not to be able to go wheelin for a year until they can afford a overpriced suspension lift that offers no benefits.... if u save money for anything on a IFS truck, it would be for a SAS, and the reasoning for the body lift in the mean time even if u take it off at a later time is so during the year it takes some people to save up the money for a SAS they can have fun with there truck how they see fit, by bein able to run a larger tire, have better ground clearance etc......

also, as far as glass fenders go, how much does a complete glass kit cost, along with the time and effort and cost to make them work properly, when u can for usually under 200 have the same amount of room for larger tires

what bout goin to a junk yard and gettin a set of fenders to cut out and repaint? what do yall think bout that idea.

i never said anything about a suspension lift on an ifs. i said what ever ultimately suits you in the end. ie: longtravel or sas however if you want a suspension lift, by all means, get the 1500 to 2300 dollar lift that you saved up for.

i didnt mean to take a whole year to save money but that how long it too me to accumulate the parts and knowledge to do the SAS myself, without ever having suspension experience.

like i said, this is only my opinion. id would much rather buy a spare set of fender(they dont even have to match in color) to cut and fit larger tires than do a body lift.

its my opinion and im entitled to it.

well one things for sure, im not gonna waste my time on an ifs suspension lift. maybe i should go with 33s with my torsion bar crank until i can afford a sas. i dont care if the 33s rub a little, my sisters bf said that i even with cut out fenders i would have to chop the bumper, and take out the wheel wells, which is illegal in pa.
