i have a 1995 4x4 automatic 4.0L with a 4in RC lift and 31's. over the summer im putting a 3in body lift and new body bushings. i really would like to put 35's but i dont want to break anything( axles mainly). i really dont care about my gas mileage because ive got a 88 mini cooper for that. does anyone have 35's with stock gears? later on like next summer i might change the gears but for now i dont have the time

thanks for looking

I ran 35's with my 91 4.0L auto and stock 3.55 gears for about 6 months without breakage problems. It was just a dog on the street and sucked back the gas pretty good.

so then i guess it was hard to get up to speed? it is my DD until december so i wouldnt be driving it much after that except when i take out my dirtbike and need to haul stuff

I ran 35's with 3.27s for a while. It was a dog on the street. I couldn't even use 5th gear going 70 because I would lose all power. I wouldn't recommend it if your engine is at all tired or worn out because it wont be good to drive. I have 5.13s now and love it... i would never go back...

yeah the truck has 218k but the person before me said it was rebuilt but he didnt do it it was the guy before hime so i dont know. it still has alot of power but it is like 14 years old. i dont even know what gears i have. my girlfriend really doesnt want me to get 35's( she's short) she was happy when i mentioned 33's haha

I wouldn't run anything lower (numerically) that a 4.10 with 33's and atleast 4.56 for 35's.

I am going to be running 4.56 with 33's after the 351 swap into my big bronco just to keep the engine happy.

I had 31's on my explorer with the stock 3.73 and it felt a little gutless on the take off, and my big bronco was a dog (right up till the engine died) with 33's and 3.55's ........... and thats with a 302 ......... 25 - 30 more hp and around 50 more ft/lb more torque than a 4.0L

35's and anything lower (numerically) than a 4.56 and you WILL have transmission problems

ok well i guess ll just go with the 33's. i had some one from a friend(pretty much worn) and it seemed to do about the same as the 31's so i guess i just get myself a good pair of 33's and just run those

thanks for all your help
