Manual
my ranger is a five speed and i would prefer to have a manual. but i have the motor and tranny from a full size van. would it be easier in the long run to go with the auto? and would the transfer case need to be upgraded? the truck will mostly be used on light dirt roads and trails. thanks for any input.

you still have to redo the motor mounts and i am assuming the transmission croosmember mounts anyway so go with what you comfortable with:icon_hornsup:

You'll easily find M5ODR2 5 speeds all day long, they will work behind any small block but they were never offered behind a 351 in factory form. I've seen them break behind stock 302s in fullsizes. The only other factory 5 speed is the ZF. If you totally desire a manual you can find 4 speed T18s, T19s or NP435s cheap. I've used pretty much all the above and I'm going back to automatics.
