351w efi ???

well im just asking if that idea will work for now i still have to find a motor and a mustang to get the rest of the parts out of. so if i do like i said above what more do i need to do

you'll need a Harness and the Computer has to match your harness (if you have a 6AL harness you have to have a 6AL ccomputer (not actual numbers, just an example)). 302 and 351 crossovers are different, motor mounts are the same.

an M5OD-R2 will bolt up to a 351 but wont stand up to it. the ZF is a better
if you want an automatic with OD you have 2 choices... AOD or an E4OD. if you want an AOD then you need a flex plate from a crown vic or a town car because they were the only ones to come with a 351 and AOD but again the E4OD is a better choice for a 4x4.

if you are going 2wd then any V8 stang 5spd or 6spd will work.

an Explorer 8.8 will stand up to a mildly built 351

^^^ so what are you saying plz explain more about the harness? can i do what i want to do?

not all were MAF..... only roller cam 351s in the trucks were maf and not all roller ready blocks were roller cam even though all after 1993 had a steel cam and steel gear on the dizzy (source: fullsizebronco.com)

Thats what I was saying, not all 96 351's were maf and obd-II. In Cali yes maybe, but not in Michigan were emissions were not enforced as strict as Cali.

If you want an EFI setup form an '87-'93 Mustang, buy it. It will not matter if the computer or harness is from an auto or manual trans, you can use it either way. You need the ECU, the main harness, the O2 harness and the injector harness. It's important that the O2 Harness matches the ECU. This won't be an issue if you grab them from the same vehicle.

( The O2 harness differed over the years between manual/auto trans. the difference is a loop/return of pin 30 from the main harness, into the O2 harness and back. you can use a manual O2 harness with an auto ECU, but you CANNOT use an auto O2 Harness with a manula ECU)

Check out all the Ranger sites for swap info. other good sources are www.fotrdfuelinjection.com www.sbftech.com and I recommend the harwood swap manual to help with wiring www.harwoodperformance.bizland.com/

Then you need an intake manifold that will work with a 351. The only usual difference is the lower. As you've found , there are options for new parts. You can also buy used.

I have no experience with 4x4, but if I was doing it, I'd grab the motor/trans/Tcase for an F-series truck and be done with it. Likely need to play with crossmember(s), shifter holes and driveshafts, but that's the fun part.

As far as auto trans go, AODE/4R70W are computer controlled, and may not be the easiest way to go, unlees you are using a computer setup from a '94/'95 Mustang GT or a '96-'01 Explorer.
Typical AOD or C4 need no computer control.

hey man your link to the swap manual doesnt work

i found from what people are saying great they have great info. i just wish i could find the adapter for the t5 and 1354

why do you want to use a mustang transmission with a 4wd?

because i want to keep my 5 speed and have it come the same place thought the floor

Vans are your best best for the 351w EFI with Mass Air not sure on the years though, and a fair amount of 302 parts including heads are interchangeable with the 351w, a handy thing to have around is a ford interchange manual it has all that parts that are interchangeable and what vehicles to find the stuff in.
