You are the first one that I know of doing the 351 in a later Ranger. You really might want to check the posts that GregR has where he put a 4.6 DOHC into his and see what he had to do with the steering. Interesting project you have. Custom headers I assume. Take a bunch of pictures, sure there will be others wanting to do the same as you.

what pan are you using?

Fyi:

I have a friend/customer that his DD is a 01 Ranger Supercab, he put a 5.0 out of a 2000 Explorer in it & he had to move the rack mount down 1", he said it's just tacked in 6 or 8 places, he cut em, moved it, & spotted it back, no problems, and he's taken it on road trips from TN to Indy. He's also in the midst of doin a 03 Edge w/5.0 Explorer stuff that's AWD, he said everythin dropped right in, didn't have to move a thing!

That's another thing that has never been adressed here. There are two different oil pans that came on the Explorer, the cast alum one and a stamped steel one (different from the Mustang one). The cast alum one does not fit in a 4x2 Ranger. Why two and what came in what years , not sure. My '97' has the alum one, '98 and 99' has the steel one. One more thing to watch out for.
