35" Mickey Thompsons on stock gears

ive got 4.56 locked in the rear with 35s and i drive quite a bit on the street (long distances). its my DD. i think it performs well. although having 4.88 wouldnt be all that bad. if you do put the 35s under your truck i highly recommend doing it right and getting a locker or a limited slip. you really dont need to go THAAAAT fast on the freeway haha. i think youd appreciate having the deeper gears though. if youre absolutely terrified of it being too low and want piece of mind just do the 4.56s.

and as far as the mt baja claws go i had a set of 33s and burned through them in about a year. be ready to rotate them every 2000 miles. they are pretty loud too on the highway. once you put them on start saving for another set of tires.

4.56 and 35s on a manual tranny will roast your clutch prematurely. i drove from san diego, ca to baltimore, md on 4.88s and 35 and ya... it did guzzle gas like any other lifted truck. it did well though. i was cruising at 75 mph at 2800 rpm.

3.73s with 35s will create premature wear to your clutch. 50k on my clutch since gears and plenty of grab left. Don't scare the guy into a certain set of gears. It All comes down to what you want. Want the feeling of more power? Go 4.88. Don't want a real deep set of gears? Go 4.56. Either choice and you'll be fine

I wouldn't go so far as to say that. Effective ratio of 4.56 and 35's is right there near 4.10 and 32.......about a 3.95:1 ratio(approx out of my head w/o math.). and you don't see people warning premature wear on that!

That's like saying trucks that currently come off the showroom floor with 30's and 3.73's are prone to premature wear!! I think not.

I ended up finding a brand new set of Motive gears that were 4.88s on Craigslist. I got them for $80 so i was pretty happy with that. I just gotta find a master install kit. I doubt I can find a kit on craigslist so ill probably just buy a new kit. But the tires should be installed by the end of the week. Ill post some before and after pics.
