35 Hybrid

got a 96 ranger xlt with a 3.0 engine 35 hybrid 4.10 gears. Last week I broke my pass side shaft inside the differential. it broke and tore the bearing girdle right out of the housing. I have been looking at this site for info. I called about 20 junkjards the 35 hybrid is not even listed in their computer. What are my options??? Thank john

swap the whole thing out for a real Dana 35. Its a bolt up. Check out the tech section,

Your best bet will be to walk around the yards and look for one. I doubt any of the yards will have the hybrid listed in their computers...

find an explorer ttb and swap the whole thing and and if you have to buy some gears

Even if you do find a hybrid, the chances of 4.10s is gonna be rare, so i would ind a d35, and you can get the 4.10s for it in the fab shop cheaper than most. or you could take a chance on a 28, since a 35 hyvbrid has 28 guts, it may work. i would find out first though before you waste money

They're out there, but they are not real common.

You need to look for '90-'92 Rangers with the 2.3L (4-cyl) engine, and some 2.9L automatics (only) of the same years. These are the only trucks that ever got the option of a true D35 in a 4.10:1 ratio.

Otherwise you will have to regear a D35 chunk of another ratio (this might be a good opportunity to regear your truck if you're running oversized tires).

If you goin to scrap yard or salvage yards dont ask for a hybrid 35, just ask if they have any 93-97 4x4 4cyl ranger, all 93-97 4cyl rangers that are 4x4 have a hybrid and i believe they all have 4.10 gears. A true D35 with 4.10 gears is very hard to find, Ive been looking, also alot of 3.0L have hybrids as well. The reason that the scrap/salvage yards dont have the hybrid in there computers is because most people dont know they exist. Most people that own 2.3L ranger dont even know, they think they have a true D35.
