33 Tires; suggestions?

Finally lifting my 4wd ranger for off-roading. I am planning on getting 33s. What brands do you guys prefer and why? The cheaper the better, but I still want quality tires.

Goodyear MT/R 's with Kevlar.
Run great on the road, grip in the rocks, and have reinforced sidewalls.

My cousin in law got the new MTR's (as pictured above) and his father got the Duratracs... he is wishing he got the duratracs. They both have 3/4 1980's Chevy trucks.

For what he does (mud/snow/gravel) with his work truck he can't show the Duratracs a thing and they drive nicer.

I find tires used or on sale, look around on the internet to convice myself they are decent tires and then run the heck out of them. My Dunlop Mud Rovers, Rubicon patterned BFG MT's and Destination MT's have all served me well.

NOT BFG AT's, they are popular for lots of people but offroad they perform horribly. I've heard many good things about the MT's.

About par for the course for an AT from what I have gathered. It isn't very common for an AT to get real high marks offroad.

On the pavement and in snow I have heard they are pretty good though.

Iv got 33x12.5R15 Firestone Destination A/T's. They are a great tire. They last forever, are great off road, and don't slip in the rain like an M/t does. They arn't too pricey either.

im running a set of 33" pro comp Xtreme M/Ts and they are damn good, the only problem is that they are a bit soft and seem to be wearing down quickly, otherwise they have served me well both on and offroad, i got em for like $220 a tire i think

Actually BFG AT tires are not that bad off-road. They are not very good in mud though. Most of my off-road trips have very little mud and after using BFG AT tires for around 30 years, I can say they do well off-road. I now run MT tires off-road and Michelin LTX M/S on the road. The MTs are noisy and I would not like to run them full time. The ATs are a good compromise for both the street and off-road and they do pretty well in snow and rain as long as they still have decent tread depth on them.

Duratrac tires have paper thin sidewalls! Just a warning! I have mastercraft courser c/t's, same as cooper st's. Great tire in mud and on the road. Wear very good, especially for how much highway driving I do. I've had swampers, dunlop mt's, radial rover rvxts, bfg allterrains, bfg mt's, and a few others I can't think of, and when these mastercrafts wear out, im 100% sure im getting another set. The only thing is they're not cheap! Bfgs are actually cheaper.

my favorite is the Dick Cepek Mud Country for a DD/WW.

then there is treadwrights, yes retreads... we have a lot of people running them on DD's in our local club and they love them.

The MT's, duratracks, and grabbers all have a thin sidewall and are prone to cuts more so than any other tire I have seen play on the trails. The road manners are not worth replacing tires do to a rock or stick punching a hole.

MT/R's, cooper STT's, cooper S/T maxx, pitbull's, TSL's are all known for thick sidewalls less prone for being destroyed by rocks.

Air em down they're great on trails. Nice thick sidewalls that hold up to.

and i shall concur. i've had 3 sets on all 3 of the rangers i have owned. 30x9.50R15's on my old 95, some 245/45R16's on my 04 and the 31x10.5R15's on my 03 FX4) they are a decent all-around tire. i feel they have minimal noise, ride nice on pavement, do good in rain and snow and havent let me down off the beaten path. i believe i will be sticking with them, just in a 32x11.50R15 next time around.

Interco Trxus MT they measure 33" on the dot, so a TRUE 33" tire, they also come in a 34"
