Hello, I'm considering swapping 8.8 31 spline on my ranger v6 96 4.0 8.8 28 spline ...
plan to use radial tires 38x15.5x15 tsl, or maxxis creepy crawler 37x14.5x15 ... my engine is a 4.0, headers, eaton m90 supercharger 7 lbs and "FuelTech" Brazilian programmable injection (230hp) ... I wonder if it worth the swap ... the shaft spline 28 is not strong enough to supercharger and tires 37 or 38? Ford 8.8 28 spline is weaker than a dana 44 hd jeep zj? Sorry for my English! I am Brazilian! Thanks guys: Icon_welder:

I definitely would suggest swapping to a 31-spline axle with that size tires. Not only is it about 30-40% stronger than the 28 spline, it's also much beefier right at the wheelbearing too. :icon_thumby:

I have a dana 44 hd a jeep zj 5.9 thrown in the garage ... it is stronger than the 8.8 ford 28 spline ? It's worth the swap or must leave for a 8.8 31 stretch marks?

A Dana44 is probably somewhere between the strength of a 28 and 31-spline 8.8" axles (probably closer to that of the 28-spline).

I would suggest look for a 31 spl 8.8".
