Hey guys I have a 97 single cab long bed ranger. Lowered 5 inches. 2.3 5 speed. I've been thinking for a long time about putting my 86 302t5 set up in the truck. I want to leave it fuel injected, I'm buying the Advanced Adapter mounts, headers, and oil filter relocation kit. Fabricating a driveshaft and all that isn't a problem at all. I've been reading all the treads and still can't determine how the actual 86 ecu works with the truck. Or what wires will I have to splice to get the truck to run right. Any thoughts would be great.

Do you have to pass emissions? If so I would suggest you rethink your plan... If not, you will probably need to use at least some of the harness from the '86 donor. The computer has a different plug, none of the sensors and accessories will plug into your '97 harness. You will need wiring diagrams for both to compare which wires you need to eliminate or splice. Your swap would much easier with either an older OBD-1 truck or a newer V8 engine/harness. It's doable but the wiring will need extensive modifications.
