302 starting

i got lucky and scored a accell photo eye pickup and hi po coil on ebay really cheap.it was really easy to set up.couldnt use the hei because of intake clearance issues

anybody know if the pro-form HEI street/strip are any good? The price of em are pretty cheap compared to its competitors like pertronix and MSD.

Why not just swap the points out for a $65 Pertronix unit ? Two wires to hook up. Twenty minute job for anyone. You don't even have to pull the distributor, just the cap and rotor. And you're not left with a big assed HEI monstrousity in front of the carb. Ever looked at a 302 with the HEI ? Can't see the motor for the distributor.

got the truck running today! Runs really strong and it idles smooth. Ill be upgrading distributers eventually. Thx for the help everyone.

Glad you got it straightened out..................now for a few donuts in the snow................:3gears::3gears:

Good Job.
Persistance pays off. Why wait until this weekend to test it out?LOL

well i need time to rebuild my PS gear box cuz its leakin like a SIVE! I hope my trans works...with the 289 in there it would always stall out when in gear. I put in a torque converter that i kno that works and fixed a vac line that was split. Hopefully it works.

well.....

the trans wont even shift into gear anymore. I switched torque converters. It has a stock foxbody mustang converter. I was thinking maybe the trans fluid has to warm up a bit because its freezing outside. Could overfilling it cause it not to shift into gear? The trans is a C4 auto with a manual valve body. With my other motor in there, the 289, it would at least kick into gear but it would stall out. Now with this 302 its not even kicking into gear. Any thoughts?

you have other problems. you might do a pressure test on the trans

i got the vac modulater hose attached to my intake manifold. I am not sure if thats how it goes. I figured it was an open vac source for it to be hooked up to. Maybe it goes to the carb?

You've got the line correct. There never was a C-4 installed in a Fox-body Stang by Ford, so I'm not sure about that being the right converter. There was a C-5 in fox Stangs. This was a thicker converter with a lock up feature. If you overfill a C-4 it will come out the vent tube eventually.

ive never seen a c5 in a stang at all.if you have astock fox converter, its from an AOD.and will not work
