302 Clearance

No you'll have to cut a hole in the hood, then build a 12" cowl induction hood, and put an oversized ricer wing on back to reduce drag caused by the hood.

Seriously yes people do it all the time. About the only reason you would to cut would be if you were running a blower or a very tall intake manifold. Heck I've seen slammed Rangers run a carbed 302 completely under the hood, no reason you couldn't do it.

Take it easy there, tiger. Yes, you do not have to cut the hood. If you want to add a scoop of any sort, maybe a cowl even, or you want to run a tunnel-ram set up... by all means go a head.

without a body lift u will need to most likely cut some of the firewall out. 3" body lift on mine cleared a large bell c4 with an inch more clearance to boot.

what motor mounts do you have? I didnt touch anything to do with my firewall.

No mods to my firewall either, other than a few dimples with a BFH to get that extra touch of clearance. As for the hood, I had a Ford triple two bbl setup with the factory aluminum air cleaner, and a K&N 3" filter on it under the stock hood. Only thing I did to fit that was to build a new bottom and reverse the top to gain firewall clearance for the air cleaner

I run TransDapt mounts and a 1" carb spacer and my 302 fits under the hood with no clearance issues at all. The only reason I cut my hood was to add vents to cool under hood temps a bit.

hood

I have TransDapt mounts, Edelbrock Performer Intake & a holly 4150 i think so i should be fine then thanks guys
