Yo people of the station!!!!

I've got a 91 mitsubishi pickup with a broken 3.0 v6. And have decided its gonna get a 300/4.9 swap. I think I've found a 300 for it. I'm not to concerned bout the motor swap its self.

Transmision on the other hhand..... is up in the air. From what I gather if I can find a m50d for it since they don't swap bell housing is what I want.

Question is: is there a better trans/t case option out there? And if not what what's my best bet to find a m50d for a 300?

It needs to be 4wd of course. I could probly fix the 3.0 but...... I'm bout out of options for t case/diff gears (SAS is in the mix)and she's soon to be sitting on 35s

First off, good luck getting a 300 into a mitsubishi, they will barely fit in a ranger with alot of sawzall work, and im guessing the ranger has a bigger enigne bay then your truck, not saying ti cant be done and that it wouldnt be tottally bad ass....

Second off, the M5OD isnt bad if you insist on Overdrive, there are millions of 92-96 F150's you should be able to pull the trans from. Me personally i would go with a T18 4sp, the older the better espically when it comes to trannys.

Dustin.

If you drive it much on the highway, you WILL want overdrive.

Dad has a '80 F-350 with a T18, if it was mine it would have a 5 speed in it so fast it wouldn't be funny. That is unless you like driving at 55mph at 2800rpm...

4.2L 97-03 and maybe newer M5OD's had the shifter in a better place for a Ranger swap and still had the SBF boltpattern, dunno how that compares with a Mitsubishi though.

That cause your dads F350 has 4.10 gears, like my F350 with a T18 and a 4.30 gear, but, in something as light as a mitsu, with the 300's torque, you could run a higher rear gear and not miss overdrive, and have alot stronger trans, plus a creeper when rthe going gets real rough.

Dustin

My F-150 with 3.31 gears and 255/75-17 (32") tires still turns more RPM than I care for going down the highway with the OD locked out.

O/D is overrated IMO.

Dustin
