300 Inline 6 Drift Truck - Pic Heavy

Got the motor semi mounted in place today. its not the most elegant way, but its sturdy. took some 2 inch, 1/4 inch wall, pipe and welded it to some plates i made to bolt to the engine. the mounts are not removable but i have just enough room to pull the engine in and out. gotta add some gussets under the pipe to add alittle more rigidity.

Well the cab had to come off again. Since this is my first time working with the Ford 300 inline 6, i didnt know thet the crank is not center between the ingine mounts. Its offset 1 1/4 inch to the left. As soon i finished the motor mounts i took a step back to look at the engine and saw that it was nowhere near close.

after seeing this (and throwing a coupe wrenches) I decided to take the cab and bed off to ensure the drive-train is installed correctly.

First thing was to make new mounts.

After getting the engine and transmission centered and set at a 4 degree angle the next thing was to shorten the driveshaft. It was shortened about 13 inches and fits perfect. after the truck is "finished" and I take it for a test drive, then ill have a new driveshaft made.

The drive shaft is now contacting one of the crossmembers so i will either have to make a new one or just remove it

Also welded the rear body mounts. The rear of the roll cage will be anchored through the body mounts.

Ford from the factory has offset crank centerlines. You probably didn't need to move the engine.

beat me...

you need a b2 rear axle now.:thefinger:

Put the cab back on the frame and finished up the roll cage today. decided to anchor the cage to the frame by adding runners from the dash bar to the engine mount area, and the back with the rear braces. Ideally it would be better to anchor all the down bars but i simply don't want to do it. (too much work).

And im no longer going to use the shortened bed. it was too rusted to mount the the frame and i didn't want to repair it. I am thinking of making a mini flatbed using wood. I seen some ratrod trucks that have them and i kinda dig it.

Get the cheapest, widest carbon fiber spoiler you can off of eBay and fab your own uprights that bolt to the very rear of the frame and put the spoiler a foot or so above cab height..

Not goin to lie, thats the first thing I thought of. then I thought of the number of cops that would loooove to pull something like that over lol

As long as you have fenders, taillights, bumper, and something covering the frame, what would the problem be?
