300 Inline 6 Drift Truck - Pic Heavy

i can see this....but draw has waaaaaay too many issues with puddling and wheel erosion. the setups for blow through now are really good. i wont be surprised to see carbs becoming more common if people start catching on....i mean they will still probably incorprate computers with wheelie control and electronic ignition for crazy stuff....but for a manual trans brawler like this critter where a guy wants bare bones and minimal electrics, for damn sure get one of these blow thru carbs readily available....

between the turbo and plumbing/intercooler.... a good offy intake and ignition system you will be 3 k all in, but its gonna be a monster of epic kewlz nezz.

really, makes the big block look cheap....at this point. but this will be much more interesting for sure.

of course, i would just build a homemade bread box for now on top of the efi lower that will hold this blow thru carb and just run a turbo and no cooler through a carb hat or home made setup to get going.... hell, probably do that under 1600 with the new carb and it will be a beast. ignition might still be tricky but the speedway setup is pretty cheap.

making a custom upper intake and welding it to the lower was exactly the plan. the clifford and offenhouser intakes are abit costly at $400-$500 so i was going to fab something up in a day or so with some scrap aluminum. it wouldnt be the best flowing intake but the currently available intakes are too "vintage" looking to me.

and the cost of a turbo system for the 300 would be a little pricey but its still cheaper than the 460. i would have to beef up the entire drive-train and hope i dont brake axle. plus less weight, i weighed the 460 and transmission in my f350 and it was just under 770 pounds

had a lot of options but chose to reuse the original main cap bolt on the main cap next to the oil pump. i removed 1/4 from the studs but the pump was still hitting the nut and i didnt want to trim the nut.

after spending this morning looking at custom intake manifolds i decided to start working on one for the 300. still havnt decided which carburetors im going to use but they are going to be one or 2 barrels.

im still amazed at how long the individual stock runners are. they are a little over 10in long when the upper intake is bolted to the lower.

now every time i look at the intake i cant stop thinking of individual carbs

something like this. 1 carburetor for 3 cylinder.

still cant decide weather to use 2 Ford autolite 1100s or 2 Stromberg 97s

Please do the individual carbs.

I'll personally bake you an entire sheet of baklava and overnight it to you if you do.

Id even be willing to make it 'special' baklava 🇯🇲🇯🇲

for turbo, single 4 bbl already setup is the way to go.

setting a carb up for a single 830 cc is not easy.

a smaller displacement for sure...650 or smaller. been done alot.

this is in regards to full range of drivability.

i would just put a couple of throttle bodies on it and get some good injectors from holdner and run this if you really want turbos.

wrong one...

this setup bank fire.

after doing some research i decided on using 4 Stromberg 97s, its close to individual carbs. lol

I started thinking of the setup i would use when i eventually turbo the motor then i reminded my self that "i aint got the money" lol

so for know im going to focus on doing the carb manifold and get the truck moving under its own power first. its a lot easier to commit more money to a project if its already derivable.

Threw some paint on the engine. since the Ford 300 was used in alot agricultural and industrial equipment i went with Rustoleum Gray.

Here is what the intake setup will be. 4 Stromberg 97s, 2 carbs for 3 cylinders. its not the best setup but it will catch some eyeballs at a cars and coffee.

Weber IDF...

3 of them... a barrel per cylinder.

That's just the VW guy in me coming out...

Or DCOE side drafts...

i keep forgetting quarter horse is back...was this eec4 or eec5? maf?

you have the factory efi which is workable to 7 pounds or so. don't toss anything yet

that stetup is the best looking one in my opnion. the only reason im deciding to go with 4 smaller carburators ( 2 per 3 cylinders) is that if one of the webbers goes out of tune or craps out, 2 cylinders are affected. if that makes sense.

here is example of how i think of it.

3 carbs = 600cfm total
3carbs - 1 carb =400cfm

VS

4 carbs = 600cfm total
4 carbs - 1 carb = 450cfm

and the loss of cfm is distributed between 3 cylinders insted of 2

Here is the design im going with.
