300+hp?

And imagine what that would do to a Ranger platform! :icon_rofl:

Okay but my truck already has a 8.8 axle...
Umm.... I know these even if i installed everyone of these parts they will NOT give me alot more power and horsepower but would they give me?
JBA Powercables
JBA Headers
Dual exhust(magaflow,gipson, ect.)
MSD Ignition
MSD blaster 2 ignition coils
aFm Cold air intake
Flexalite fan blade
Jet Chip performance module and chip

Im not expecting to get alot from this but what do you think will i see, if i decied to get everything here.

The headers would add some. Exhaust and intake would add sound. The rest is not going to do much. I would suggest port and polish upper/lower intake. If you did that then the intake and exhaust might help you out. You have to start with the most restrictive part of the engine first.

just put a damn v8 in it

There is no replacement for displacement

JBA Headers
Dual exhust(magaflow,gipson, ect.)
Cold air intake
Electric fan
Underdrive pulleys
Roller rockers
SCT x-cal tuned by Fred @ rogue performance

I've edited your list to what it should be. These mods are proven to either add power, free up existing hp, increase fuel mileage, or make the 3.0 rev easier and run more smoothly. Now all of these, would MAYBE net you 30whp. If hat's not enough, and you want to go all in, then you should just write Tom Morana a blank check and be done with it.

I'd guestimate 20 horse.

I got a 351w complete that I'll sell ya for 2hundo. Come pick it up.

Okay man i will look into this alot!
Would a MSD Ignition even do anything at all???

If you replaced the entire ignition system, you might see a gain, but that would be several hundred dollars for single digit hp increases. Just switching coils probably won't do much at all. Besides, the stock ignition is more than capable even for heavily modded supercharged 3.0's. I'd say leave the ignition alone until you've completley run out of other things to do.

Alright man Im installing my aFm cold air intake right now. :yahoo:

If you did a V8, just find a nice custom shop that can make you a driveshaft. Your 8.8 should hold up just fine and if it doesn't, swap in a 31-spline from an exploder ... and upgrade to disc while you're at it.

their really isnt much you can do to gain hp without spending alot of money. Most people say best bang for your buck is underdrive pulleys. Exhaust is just for sound and your factory intake is already cold air iirc, the only thing that might help would be a less restrictive filter.

Hold up... Say that agian????
Can you maby link me to a place where a underdrive pulley is?
The aFm intake i have did freeup so HP i can feel it. It also added some sounds to her.

What you're feeling is your money leaving your wallet. The intake didn't do a thing for performance, other than make it louder, and when it's hot, it will hurt performance, since you no longer have a cold air intake.

You might want to consider what has been written here before.

Sake oil is expensive and a waste of time.

You can't get more out of the engine without doing some major mechanical modifications, and then it's going to be the most expensive 10 horses you ever bought.

If you want more power out of your truck, swap in a 4.0 or 5.0 and quit wasting your money.

Yep, your new intake probably has a cone filter attached to a round pipe? This air filter probably has little or no shroud to block out engine compartment heat so now you're pulling in warm air instead of cool air. The only aftermarket intake I would recommend is the Volant as this has a full engine compartment shroud.

I had a 3.0L Ranger that I installed JBA headers, BBK 56mm throttle body, ported/polished intake, Volant intake, 1.7:1 crane roller rockers, underdrive pullies, electric fan, hotter coil, and advanced the ignition 4 degrees. It was a single cab and had 3.73:1 gears. One of my friends had a same year OHV 4.0L with 3.55:1 gears and a muffler change and it would still walk my truck. So, that tells me the 3.0L was still at or under 160 hp. Because of this parts list (and the body of the truck had a lot of work) I was able to make a good buck when I sold it.

And if you're still reading about my experience. I swapped in a 93 cobra mustang 5.0L with a carb. That was fun. Then I pulled it for what I'm building now (400hp mechanical cam'd 306") And my future plan is to build a 408w stroker. You see the pattern?

Most all of the parts to build more power out of the 3.0L are going to raise the powerband. In a 4x4, the 3.0L's main complaint is the lack of low end torque. You'll have LESS torque down low with most of these add-ons. You have multiple real world choices

1. Leave the engine
2. Force some air into the engine (this will give you a desirable powerband)
3. Swap for a larger engine

But, its your vehicle so this is the last advice I throw out there.
