Monday I took a trip here from near St.Paul to deep into Wisconsin. Round trip 400 miles. 3/4 of it highway,,, going about 64 down and about 68 back. 1/4 of it rural 2 lane roads mostly 55mph. 300 pound of salt in the back on the way down. 100 pound snowblower added for the trip back. Temps in the 40s cooling into the 30s on the way home. No defrost or a.c. on. No topper or bed cover. Before and after the trip I filled up at the same gas station and pump. My 04 Ranger 2.3 5 speed longbed has a 3.73 rear and 79,600 miles.

impressive.....but do you have to rub it in:sad:

ya really do you have to rub it in! lol iam gettin about 13/16 with my 95 4.0 i cant wait to get my lil 96 4 banger on the rd to get good mileage!

Nice that's what about my dad gets in his 2.3. I just got 13.5MPG last tank and have no idea why...

Damn, I get 15/16 every tank. Im looking forward to my 4.56s.

haha, ive been complaining because my escorts mileage has been down to about 30 MPG lately :taunt: i remember the few times i hit 39mpg with that car...

Very Nice. The old 2.3L will sometimes hit 30mpg also, but it has to be on very flat roads, no wind (a tail wind perfered), doing 55mph. Most of the time I see 22mpg City, 24mpg Combined, 26-28mpg Highway. And if its all highway, 500miles to a tank before reserve.

Yeah, those duratec engines are a little bit more effecient for being the same displacement. If i ever got a new daily driver ranger, it would be an 01+ duratec.

Congrats...

I did that in my 3.0L Ranger... 70mph down the highway early fall, ~100lbs in the bed, ~60-100 in the cab, plus me and another guy. Had a tonneau on the bed too. Mileage worked out to somethin like 30.93, I don't remember exactly but I have the gas slip floating around here somewhere.

I think I need to seafoam it and replace the cat though, I'm down to 16/17 around town and 20 on the highway and thats about the only thing I haven't done, I was gettin 20-22 around town and 25-31 highway.

i used to get around 31-32 in my lil 2.5 i took care of it, religiously and i got 260000 REPAIRLESS miles out of and still on the factory clutch, then some retard had to pull out in front of me and end its life :( i almost cry ever time i think about it J/K

Over the summer we rented a sonata to drive to Virginia Beach while the Heep was getting a new front end. That little mother got 42mpg going about 80mph the whole way. It was a little under powered but I was still pretty impressed.

Matt

not fair

I get 15 on a really good day

Well with the pizza delivery work I do it made sense to get a 4 cyl Ranger. My 94 F250 was taking $75 fillups twice a week. The gas money I save covers the payments.
