alright so im trying to button up my lift kit this weekend, and im almost done, but ive run into a snag.

the steering shaft extension piece seems a bit too short. (89 ranger 2wd ext cab 2.9 a4ld) it fits inside the firewall side of the shaft just fine, but its not working out so good for the other side (off by about 3/8 - 1/2"). if i try to put the extension in the u joint side first, its pretty tight. if i hammer it in to that, will it be ok to use some "negotiation" (i.e. yanking the crap out of the shafts) for getting it inside of the other shaft?

and isnt the steering shaft supposed to be slightly telescopic in stock form? cause mine sure isnt...

When I did my body lift I could "telescope" my steering shaft...the extension could've been another inch and i still would've been good

alright so then you think mine's seized up? my truck has always been very well taken care of so its very possible that it hasnt been moved since it was assembled back in 89...

you think its ok if i pull on the shaft (pulling in the direction of going away from the steering box) to try and telescope the shaft? do i risk damaging the steering box?

I'm not sure, we got a different years and such, but i reefed on my steering shaft quite a bit, pulling, banging on it to make it fit on, I wouldn't worry about doing damage, that being said I take no responsibility if you do cause any:icon_twisted:

haha well it turns out mine telescopes quite nicely... i guess last night i was just tired and didnt feel like pulling that hard hahaha... this morning it came out with just a few gentle taps.
