Hi all,

My first post!

I have a stock 1998 B2500 4x2. I want it to have the height of the 4x4 and want to do it cheaply so wanted to do 3 inch coils spacers (with shock extenders) in the front and 2 inch blocks under the leaves (with new longer shocks). I also want to put 29 inch tires... I don't think I need a lift for 29s but just wanted to keep tires kinda small for MPG purposes.

Has anyone tried the following for the front?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Mazda-...03&hash=item3a7bd949b7&vxp=mtr#ht_1943wt_1074

I didn't see any 3 inch spacers in the tech articles section.

Thanks in advance!

I can't see a reason why you'd need any lift to clear those tires either. I mean that pretty much what I'm running on my stock height 4x4 '88. Seems to be just big enough to not look weird to me.

I can't speak at all to the front suspension on the newer trucks.

I haven't been under the front end of a 98 in a long time but if i recall correctly from when i lifted the 97 i no longer have i was told if i had a 98 i could have just cranked the torsion bars. Are you sure of which type of suspension is under there? TTB or Torsion Bar? I suppose it could possibly be either depending on the production date. I'm sure someone with a bit more knowledge will come along but i do know around 98 they switched from TTB to Torsion Bar front suspension. I have only lifted a 97 and it was some work. Thankfully i had access to my friends lift and his dads garage and his dads knowledge.

All that being said i really do think you can clear 29 inch tires on that without a lift, but i get where you're coming from wanting it to sit like a 4 wheel drive. Whole reason i done that to my 97 and put 31's on it. That and my friends said it was crazy and stupid and that i should just buy a real truck.

I says "will not fit extended cab". Don't see why the cab style should make any difference however, whether you have tib or sla I don't believe you can lengthen the springs three inches and still have an alignable front end.

Thanks for all the replies.

Yes I've cleared 29s before without a lift but it did look a little too "stuffed" inside the wheel well.

Also, on the 2wd 98s came with coil springs... no torsion bars or TTB, so I think I'm ok there.

Just wondered if any had any experience with a 3 inch spacer in the front...

also, it said you don't need a spring compressor... I find that hard to believe. I put one in my jeep cherokee a few years ago and definitely needed a spring compressor.

I think you're right on the spring compressor. Ofcourse when we done my spacers my friends dads method was to use a 3 ton floor jack with i think a 4+ foot long 8"x8" square post made of oak. I know we would have never got it compressed without that or spring compressors.

Thanks for all the replies. Here is before and after. After with 235/75/15 (29s) tires.

Doesn't look that much different in pics... maybe I should've gone with 30s!

I got 29's on mine. I am looking into bigger coils now. Fits fine and looks great but, whenever I hit a bump or hit my brakes moderately hard, The front tires rub.

Oh I should of scrolled down before I posted. You got the exact same tires as me in the same size LOL. In my ranger it made a massive difference but mine had some tiny minivan looking tires on it. Go hit a speed bump and tell me if yours rubs too?

4x4's sit a lot taller than 2wd stock. I believe 4x4 can clear 33's stock? (correct me if if wrong)
