3'' bl +2'' susp

Blocks can cause axle wrap on hard acceleration and the like, which is where the spring tries to bend into an S shape, which is naturally hard on driveshaft joints and the like. Add a little wheel hop and things break.

And as far as add a leafs.... I'd never use them after one set tried to kill me by exploding from under a truck that I was taking the rear axle from. Got the U-bolts undone and the axle lowered away from the springs and was just moving away from that side when BLAM! and springs shot everywhere. If I want a stiffer pack or more arch, I play around with the composition of the leaf pack, adding/subtracting leafs, using leafs from different vehicles, etc.

Im running 3" bodylift. Am in the process of swapping my explorer springs over...here is a pic of the rear. It is explorer leafs with add a leaf and 1" block. Sitting on 31's.

Explorer springs.

Custom build the pack if you want it stiffer or softer and plus or minus an inch or two of lift. If you want more lift, use some chevy 1500 drop shackles - they lift our trucks.

I got 5" out of the drop shackles and a custom built Explorer leaf pack.

so for just swapping out my factory rear springs for factory explorer springs ill get 2'' lift? sorry just trying to get it straight

Yes..explorer springs will give you approximately 2 inch of lift. Just make sure they came from a 4 door. Also have to flip the center pin..or just replace it.

okay cool so basically i just need front and rear springs from a 4door explorer 90-95 to make my 2'' lift. sounds good thanks

what about 2wd or 4wd is there a difference in the spring size? on the exp

i believe 4x4 springs have a little more lift to them. I would look for a 90-94 4x4 4 door explorer.

Your best bet is from a 4X4. I can't recall if the 2wd front springs are different but I put springs in from a 4WD 4door and got a solid 2 inches all around and the ride qualtity is nearly the same, espcially with a couple hundres pounds in the back...

cool deal, just checked pricing and pull-a-part charges 10.93 for coil springs and 16.59 for leaf springs which turns a 250$ lift into a 55$ lift ...and they have 20+ explorers
