I was wondering if anyone has had a 3 angle valve job done on a 2.3?
did it help? what were the angles ground at?also what about a back cut on the valves I heard that helps low lift numbers a lot. that would be a real big help on the low rpm out of the hole acceleration.
I ask this as my little evil brain is trying to figure out how to make this motor more efficient with out making a bunch of mods (like adding fuel injection and a turbo)so that mileage goes up cause the motor doesn't have to work so hard.:icon_confused::icon_confused::icon_confused:

A three angle valve job uses 30, 45 and 60 degree cuts. As far as the valves get stainless steel valves. Manley supplies valves to Esslinger so take your choice. They are the best 2.3 valves. I installed the oversize valves 1.89 intake 1.59 exhaust in my head. Focus on the valve bowl and the short radius in the exhaust port first for porting. I recommend Lunati for a cam they will custom grind a cam or recommend one for you. Go to a 2 1/4" exhaust system. Quickest HP comes from more compression. I had my head cut .060 and added a adjustable cam pulley to reset cam timing. Advancing the cam timing will give you a little better low rpm power but never more than 6 degrees.

I thought that all valve jobs were ground with 3 angles? I read that in hot rod or something? Is that correct?

no it is not most are a single cut like 45 degrees(not sure of the angle that is just an example number)
some people mistake the margin as one of the cuts and it is not part of the valve job the valve job is on the face of the valve where it makes contact with the head.
