I have a 1993 2.3L Ford Ranger XLT with a 7.5-inch 3.45 rear axle what would be the benefit of putting a 3.73 rear axle on it?

Someone correct me if Im wrong but unless you go 4.56 or higher theres really no point

^^ wrong you only need to go to that low of a gear wit bigger tires. you going to 3.73 will give you a little better starting off power and should be decent on the highway. still get good mileage

It has 14X6 rims and I was looking to get 15X7's what would be a good tire size or what rims and tire size would you recommend?

235 70 15's are a half decent setup with 3.73's and a 2.3

thanks for teaching me :icon_thumby:

I ran the 235 70's instead of the more popular 235 75's, were a little shorter and made for a decent setup, might as well go with the 75's though, i ran the 70's because they were tight...

are 70s wider than 75s

same width (235 is the tread width in mm), 70 is the aspect ratio (70% of the tread width) which is the sidewall height, they're a whole 1/2" shorter than the 75's I think

on a '93 there shouldn't be any fitment issues with the 235 75 15's (same tires as a 30x9.5 with a smaller price tag usually)

^^ a 235 is a 28.9 inch tall tire there not the same as a 30 inch

depends on the manufacturer. measuring them real world (on your truck) and most will be very close in height. most mfg's will bump up to the 30" in their ads, but actually will run slightly shorter. i've had 235's at 29.7, and 30's at 29.5. really depends on who the maker is.

My 30's were only like 28.5 Those were Goodyear MTR's, an by the time the tread wore down a bit they were only 28.

35" tires are really only like 33", 31's are 30", very few tires are actually their advertised size... most 30x9.5 tires are exactly the same tire as a 235 75...
