I have a 86 ranger that came with 3.45 diff. the axle bearing has gone out and grooved the axle 1/32. I have a 4.10 L diff. for a spare. My qustion, Is this a too big of a jump in gears to be compatible to the original front diff ?

In a 4x4 you need the front and back to match. 3.45 to 4.10 is a big jump.
it will bind up and end up breaking something.

I do have a good 3.45 laying around, not sure were you are. just putting it out there.
I am in wa state

is it a skinny little groove from the seal? if so i would just sleeve the axle. or see if you can swap an axle shaft from the other 3.45

If the axle is your problem, just swap the axle.

The ring and pinion dont matter, grab the axle out of the other rear end and compare size and spline, then put it in.

Thanks to all for the info. Minds do think alike.

+1, they call it a Speedi-Sleeve. They are just a thin tube that creates a new surface for the seal to run on.
