Anybody ever thought of throwing a 4.0 crank in the 2.9? From what I can figure out, it would work out to be a 3.44L motor. Just a thought. If I'm gonna have the 2.9, I might as well tinker with it see what I can do that others haven't.

Been discussed before, it's not possible. If you go through all that trouble, just put in a 4.0, I'm sure you wont be disappointed.

Yeah this was discussed a week or so ago, you could find it you looked a little. The 4.0 crank won't fit since the 2.9 block is narrower. The counterweights will hit either the pan or block, can't remember which. And that's after extensive machining is done to the crank. In short, just put in a 4.0.

Alright, if you say it CAN'T be done, I guess I'll just sit at home and cry cause my idea just got shot down...again. That's alright, the girlfriend don't want me spending that much money at the machine shop.:dunno:
Thanks for the input.

Spend the money on a complete 4.0 engine and a big bag of RED wire splices
and a small bags each of Blue and Yellow.

Splurge on the ones that shrink and seal.

Oh yeah, get the EVTM for both the donor and for your truck.

The wiring isn't all that tough.

It was just an idea. I'm not that displeased with the 2.9. I like the motor for the most part, was just looking for a little more torque. I want to build the 2.9 because I don't see many people doing it. They just give up on this motor and go straight for the 4.0.
