Wouldn't It be cool if someone could find a way to put the Taurus SHO 3.0L
V-8 in a 94 Ranger. I found one up top of my shop and the Idea stuck me then... Id have to find a way to bolt it to the bellhousing....

The V8 was a 3.4, I'm not sure which bell housing pattern it used. The 3.0/3.2 V6 engines used the same pattern as the Vulcan's, however, and were a LOT more reliable.

Why would you want a V8 that's smaller than most V6's? If you just want the sound, mock up a stereo with extenal speakers.

I agree with that. If you had a Vulcan engine now, the V6 SHO might be a worthwhile option. I wouldn't bother with the V8 swap when you could do a much larger, more reliable engine for less money and hassle.

Wasn't it THAT little V8 that had all of the camshaft/camshaft gear faliures? Memory serves me, it was an oriental engine that wasn't as reliable as it was marketed to be. If it is the engine I'm thinking about, Ford has every right to be embarrassed about it. And they never did the owners of vehicles with the engine justice.

Yeah, the original design of the engine never reached fruition due to all sorts of budget cutbacks. After releasing a pitiful, failure prone version of what should have been a great engine, Ford eventually quit producing SHO's entirely.

Shame, because the Yamaha V6's were great motors. Amazingly reliable, although they did require a fair amount of preventive maintenance.

yep, gotta weld the camshafts or the lobes will spin lol. other than that, it'll rev to the sky and back and ask for more.

there's a company that makes an adapter for it as well so you can mate it to a T5, just cant remember who off the top of my head. the crazies over on TF know. matter of fact there's a guy goofing with one and a T5 right now over there.
