I got a friend who may have a guy who wants to get rid of a 90 ranger 4x4 with 4" lift that doesnt run. I got a perfectly running 92 2wd 3.0. I was thinking about making him an offer on the truck. My idea is to drop my running no problem what so ever engine into the 4x4 obviously while the 4x4 is gutted do some clean up, new motor mounts etc... My real question is the 4x4 is auto and my truck is manual and I prefer the manual. If I drop my m5 and stick it up in the 90's 4x4 will my trans swap in and match up appropriately with no mods or changing transfer cases and such?

I believe you will have to get a new/used tail housing for the 2wd manual transmission.

thanks... went to take a look today and it has way to much rust to make me wanna make an offer. It doesn't run because it's been sitting so long. A small jungle over grew it and was freshly cut back upon the news of my arrival.
