Hey everyone, Im having a hard time trying to find a replacement for my Mazda Transmission, I have a 1991 Ranger with a 3.0 v6. I have a 5speed trans. I have the speedo cable that goes to the back of the transmission, and the truck has cruise control, if that makes a difference. I was wondering what years fit, regardless of if I need to change something small over or not. I was wondering also which vehicles I can try to get one off of. Another question I have is if I can use a 4x4 trans and leave it switched to 4x2 constantly. My last question is, If they have made any sort of adaptor for the 3.0 to where I can use a different trans, maybe a more durable stronger one? Please Please Please help me out, it will be much appreciated.
You need a 2wd trans. 4wd trans use a different output shaft. To change the output shaft, you would need to disassemble the entire trans. The M5OD was the only trans that came with the 3.0 and there aren't any adaptors for other transmissions.
Ok. Also Im having a hard time finding one for a decent price, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience dropping a 302 in a ranger. I can get a 302 and a t5 trans cheaper than I can a new transmission. Just a thought but what do you think? is it do-able, and is there a thread about that already?
