first ill start by saying i didnt get off with this swap on the right foot. i didnt get a complete doner truck.

ok so the specs
93 ranger 3.0 with a4ld

was told the motor and what part of the harness i got are from a
94 explorer 4.0 a4ld

bellhousing from
19?? broncoII 2.9 a4ld

bellhousing bolted right on to my trans. im using the 3.0 torque converter and the 4.0 flexplate. the TC bolts line up with the holes in the felxplate.

problems
1. the motor wont turn over after tightening the bellhousing bolts. i set the motor in and lined up the torque converter bolts and tightened down 2 of the nuts then tighted down the bellhousing bolts. and then tryed to turn the motor over to get the other two TC bolts but couldnt. loosed the bellhousing bolts and it turns over. took off the TC nuts then bolted the motor to the trans but still got tight.
should the 3.0 TC work with 4.0? how much free play should there be in the TC to flexplate when engine bolted to trans?

2. Wiring. im sure i can figure this out and there is alot ALOT of info on the web about it. just wanted to say that i should have gotten all the wiring from the same truck. :annoyed:

i think you sre looking in the wrong spot why the motor wont turn over maybe does the flex plate fit in good could it be what binding??? and is the tq in all the way you should hear 3 clicks some times it can be vere hard to get the 3rd one look there to

hmm only cant remember how many clicks its likely mybe i didnt have it in all theway. i guess ill take the motor out ....again.....

iv done it a few times it can be a pain in the ___ some times you need to turn the drive shaft it can help good luck

the .0 tq should be fine im useing a 4.0 in my 3.0 lol but the 3.0 tq does stall higher so you will have a small stall tq useing the 3.0 behind your 4.0.

I don't think the 3.0 TC will work, You need a 2.9 or 4.0. I think an actual 4.0 would be best. The distance between the crank and the front pump is different between the two motors. The thingy (forget the name) that sticks out the front of the TC is a different size as well (the little stub in the center).

the thingy is the pump shaft. i made sure it was the same size.

no not off the rear of the TC into the trans.theres a stub that locates the TC in the flexplate spacer off the front.get a 4.0 TC it will have the right stall speed.

also don't use the bolts to draw things tight.if you can't wiggle it together you don't have it right.thats why it won't turn:icon_idea:
