ok i have a chance to buy a 1999 ranger xlt extended cab 4X4 with the syle side bed for 500 bucks..... it has a 3.0 with the alternitive fuel stuff on it (no i dea about anything on it) but it is blown soo i was wondering how hard it would be to swap a 4.0 in to the truck it is going to be a winter truck any help would be awsome thanks

I have been told NOTHING FITS! You will need an almost complete donor vehicle to transfer all the parts from.. From the radiator to the exhaust pipes all the wiring and computer..

That is pretty much true. You will need the engine, all the sensors, transmission, wiring harness, computer, drill new holes for the engine mounts, radiator... It isn't hard. Pretty much a bolt-up with all the parts. If you try to adapt stuff, it is going to be a pain.

Ya this swap would be a big project. IMO a better idea would be to just find yourself a 4.0 and buy that. Sometimes you can get lucky and find one with a small engine problem for dirt cheap. Fix that and you got your 4.0.
