Does anybody know how fastest the rpm's should be going to stay safe? I have 3.73 gears and run about 3000 rpms down the interstate at 75. I usually drive 65 because I don't want to be too hard on the engine. I was wondering if it really made a difference on the life of the engine. Thanks!

Well i know if you rev it to about 6000 or higher often your valve springs will hate you and probably die. but I run it around 2500 to 3000 on the highway and even with my exhaust it sounds happy to be in those ranges. I think you'll be fine.

3.0l loves to rev, the power doesnt really start to come on until 3000 rpm anyways and you can safely pull it up to 5000 then shift and it wont care. i also run 4th gear on the highway unless im going down hill and need to pass, then ill kick it into 5th. when i had my 30s on the truck i NEVER used 5th because i couldnt make use of it anywhere.

I've hit the rev limiter more then once horseing around. I've had my truck for little over a year and I run it up to 5500 rpms everyday and it runs fine. oh and I'm runninng 31's on stock gears and I have no problems in 5th gear unless its a steep grade in the mountains (I live in vegas)

yeah, stock 3.73s when the 30s were on it. in 5th gear on the higway unless i had the rpms above 2500 there was just no way i was going to make it up any decent size hills without grabbing 4th. ive got 215/75/15 (they measure out to 27.5" tall) snow tires on it right now and the truck seems much happier through out the entire rpm range now, i got on the free way yesterday and burried the speedo on one of the straight aways, so 5th isnt useless, it just doesnt work well for me when trying to obey the speedlimit.
